Elusive Bloom

Elusive Bloom

The Mountain Violet produces flowers in early spring that open wide, but later in the season remain closed and hide under the plant's big green leaves. No wonder it has been difficult to photograph. The fleshy seeds are attractive to ants, who end up dispersing the seeds. Viola purpurea
