Queen of Nuts

While the eastern tree is bright red, the California native Valley Oak is slowly turning. They have many green leaves and many falling brown leaves. The oaks also have acorns. This acorn was the second choice of the Miwok people. First choice was the acorn of the Black Oak because it made superior acorn mush. Quercus lobata

  • The DOF here really makes this a beautiful, contemplative image. Your text also gives me something to think about, about how this tree sustained so many people.
