Inhospitable

The burrs in the meadows are at their prime in late summer months, so long pants and leather boots it is, even in the heat. The ubiquitous Spreading Hedgeparsley is a plant that definitely impacts our lifestyle. Seeds of this plant have spines, which can facilitate hitching a ride on a furry animal or on a pantleg. And it was such a sweet plant in the spring Amongst the Grass. Torilis arvensis

  • Imagine how the critters must feel. Have you ever had to remove these little buggers from a dog or cat?

  • We call them "beggars lice" or bur chervil. I have learned to use a pocket comb or gloves to sweep them off my pants so I don't get those tiny spines in my fingers.
