Pollywogs in the Making

With winter water comes frog eggs. The females release their eggs which the males cover with sperm. When the eggs contact water they soak up water and swell, forming this jelly-like blob. Eventually the eggs will "hatch" into tiny pollywogs that wriggle out of the mass and begin eating algae. Rana boylii

  • I love your blog. It's a nature show in stills. How many people would notice frog's eggs, much less photograph them?
