Male Wild Turkeys continue to amaze with their quirky beauty. This one, replete with long beard, was strutting among a band of six females. Not long after this shot, there was a split second of gymnastics between Mister Bigstuff and one of the females accompanied by a tornado-like show of blurry feathers. Meleagris gallopavo
This foothills guy looks quite different from the flocks of wild turkeys we see in Marin; their lighter feathers have a bronzy look. Ours don't have the pointy thing on the nose. Maybe there's a separate sub-species here. Elaine @ 06-10-2012
