Sixteen Tons
Just raking the driveway yields a small mountain of oak leaves that we use to nourish our compost bins during the coming year. Many years ago when I worked at nurseries, I used to sell oak leaf mold by the bag. Seems funny now, living under the giant Valley Oaks, that by their nature, drop tons of oak leaves just where we want them.
