Often heard, but not seen - I found a Western Screech Owl perched high up in the rafters of an old building in the early morning. This lovable owl is full size at about nine inches tall. It was nonplussed, even a little sleepy, until our cat entered the building. Then it perked up..and all escaped whole. Megascops kennicotti
