The male Black-Tail Deer sheds its antlers after the mating season has passed between January and April. They regenerate new antlers from the calcium in their bones, particularly rib bones. The older a deer is, the more points its antlers typically have. The shed antlers are often found in state of decay because they become a great source of calcium for the rodent population. Odocoileus hemionus

  • Cool that this shedding is so fresh it still has blood color at it's base and the rodents haven't found it yet.
