A Vetch Like Me

A Vetch Like Me

You can see that Hairy Vetch lives up to its name. According to the Native Plant Society, this vetch was brought to North America from Europe as a rotation crop. It escaped and is now common along roadsides and in disturbed places. Vicia villosa

  • How droopy! But what a gorgeous color combination--those fuscias mixed with the green. Wow!

  • Would that be Harry Vetch? Anyway, the whole family is cool. Looks like a Lilliputian jungle.

  • Oh yeah -- isn't it colorful and so abundant! We have a lot of it out at China Camp -- I hear it's a bean and latches onto other plants for support, strangulating the other plants in the process. Such a beautiful color. I've been trying to shoot the stuff but haven't been too successful. You've got a great image of it here.
