It's no surprise that one of this plant's common names is Giraffe's Head. It's a non-native annual from Europe and is now found throughout California at lower elevations. It's a early bloomer and apparently can make a good whistle when the blossum is pulled off the plant. Another common name is Henbit. Lamium amplexicaule
