This fern loves the winter rain and grows happily no matter what Western culture calls it. If the fern is the pre-hybrid species California Polypody it's Polypodium californicum and if not, it is Polypodium calirhiza, a hybrid species with a hybrid name emerging from californicum and glycyrrhiza. Does anybody know which fern it is?
